Bringing Sunshine to the Office!

We spend the majority of our waking moments at work. As crazy as that seems, it’s the norm for most people. If your company doesn’t have a good work culture, spending that much time at work can seem like an impossible task. But guess what? It doesn’t have to be! A positive culture leads to better teamwork, higher productivity, and lower employee turnover. The best thing your company can do is pour into your employees.

At Lime Media, we’ve created what we refer to as our “Sunshine Committee.” No, it’s not an actual job title, but it is a group designed to boost spirits around the company. Our goal is to provide a ray of sunshine and positivity to all our employees. It’s nothing over the top or extravagant, but a way to make our coworkers enjoy coming to work every day!

Celebrating WINS

As a company, one of our favorite things to do is celebrate the achievements of our employees. How does it work? When someone notices a coworker go above and beyond, they send a company-wide email celebrating the achievement that was made. The best part is seeing the responses congratulating the person! We even have Lime Media swag for individuals who get a shout-out! What’s the benefit? Celebrating the wins of employees shows that we prioritize personal and professional success and see the value in our employees.

Along the same lines, we have a peer-to-peer award that is passed on weekly. The “Limeaide of the Week” award goes to an individual who exemplifies the characteristics of Lime Media and excels in the workplace. The unique aspect of this award is that the recipient from the previous week gets to choose who receives it the following week. We announce the recipient on social media and make an internal announcement for recognition. Publicly acknowledging wins encourages everyone to perform at their best.

Celebrating the successes of our Limeaides is a simple way to boost morale and let them know they are valued and appreciated!

Celebrating MILESTONES

Whether it’s a cookie delivery for someone’s birthday or a lunch with the president of Lime Media for an anniversary, we make it a point to celebrate milestones. It is something unique to our company. We started personalized celebrations when there were four employees and have continued as we are growing well over 50. At the end of the day, it’s about fostering relationships and building connections with the people you work with. Celebrating milestones at the office makes the days a little bit brighter.

Celebrating TOGETHER

One thing the sunshine committee does that’s a huge hit is planning and executing our quarterly FUN event. Every quarter, we plan something outside the office to do together as a company. Some of the fan favorites from the past include a Top Gun: Maverick watch party and a comedy show in Dallas. This is a great time for everyone to let loose and interact with coworkers. Our industry is all about the hustle. From the moment we get to work to the second we leave, we are busy. It’s nice to take a moment of togetherness and unwind. We all look forward to our quarterly events, which are a big part of what makes our team so unique.

Don’t forget the little things!

While the big events or celebratory lunches are fun, it’s not what it’s all about. At the end of the day, our goal is to make everyone smile and be happy to be at work. Asking someone about their day or leaving a note of encouragement goes a long way. We’ve even been known to throw an ice cream party here and there. The most successful companies have a caring culture. Work should be more than a place you go to collect a paycheck. The PEOPLE make the difference. People are more successful when they feel valued and are more effective at their job when they enjoy coming to work every day. We have seen that with the implantation of our sunshine committee. Not only does it bring joy to our office, but we can serve the people we care about, our family. That’s what we are at Lime Media. We want our employees to gain more than a 9 to 5 job. We want them to love what they do!
